Many people believe that SEO should be affordable, or even cheap. There is a mindset that SEO will be cheaper than pay per click advertising. I am not sure where this exactly comes from, but it's out there. You can see it when you scan the search results for affordable SEO. There are many plans for under $100 per month, even as low as $9.99 per month. However, there is a real problem with these affordable SEO plans. And it's a very simple problem that you will immediately understand. No graphs and charts or overly complicated equations are needed to help you understand the problem. They don't work!.
So can you find an affordable SEO plan that will work? This depends. How cheap are you trying to go? If you think spare change per day will get your website to the top of Google, then no. Do you know how valuable the top spots on a competitive search phrase are? VERY. The reason they are so competitive is that they bring a TON of traffic. And a good website converts traffic into buying customers. Wherever there is an economic value, there is a high price. It's the wonder of efficient markets. And there is really very little more efficient than the Internet (at least post 2001).
