When you choose to purchase a self storage unit for the first time you want to make sure that you find out about all of the terms before you commit to any of the places. Chances are that self storage might not be the best option for you depending on the length of time that you are planning on storing your things as well as the amount of things that you have to store. When you are doing self storage there might often be minimum time limits that apply to the prices that they are charging for their services. If you are planing to store your items for less than a month then it will probably not be very advantageous to store your items in a self storage since most of them will have a minimum of one month and therefore will charge per month for the storage. Also many different self storage units only come in larger sizes that will cost you a lot more than the space that you really need. If you only have a few things like say, two boxes or so and you want to store them than it is probably better that you find other means than self storage unless you are willing to pay for all the the space that you will not be utilizing. While some people can have that luxury most people would rather save that money so that they can use it for something else. So if these conditions apply to you and especially if both conditions apply to you, where you have few things and need to store them for a short period of time one of the options that you have is that you can ask a friend if you can store your things in their place. Many houses have attics and basements with a lot of space and if you only have a few things it might be good to consider asking your friends for a small favor if you do not want to resort to self storage.
