Network inventory software can be installed into the computer of the administrator in order to have more control over the information that is attained by the individuals that are part of any larger program. Network inventory software can allow the administrator to access the data and can also facilitate monitoring. Different types of network inventory software will notify the administrator in many different ways when new actions are taken. Some programs will send emails to the administrator when either software or hardware is change, others will send instant messages and so it there are many different variations for the types of messages that are sent and how they are sent. It all really depends on what the administrator is able to access with ease and what they are looking to achieve with the program. The setup for a network inventory software program also depends on the amount of computers and devices that are on the network. If there is a larger network it might be easier to organize the messages in a different way than if the network was much smaller. For example a smaller network would work find with instant message alerts while having that for a larger network might be unmanageable and would be better to have it set up to be alerted by email. It all really depends on the preference of the administrator as well so there are some network inventory software that is quite flexible to the needs and desires of the administrator. The helpful thing about these programs is that often times you can easily generate reports with them of all the actions that you choose to review. The flexibility really depends on the type of program that you install and how much you know about it to be able to change it.
