Stormwater pollution is something that many people do not take as seriously as they should. Even if people are aware of stormwater pollution they often do not take it into account the seriousness it and do not enact things that would provide solutions for this. Stormwater pollution really does affect aquatic animals more than what we think about sometimes. Just think about all of the chemicals that are poured on our driveways and other places that does straight into the water of other organisms. A lot of stormwater pollution can be collected from the soap that people use when they are washing their cars. All that soap has to end up somewhere and even when it dries on the driveway or on the sidewalk it will eventually make its way to a source leading to the ocean especially when there are storms that wash out the streets. All the oil from cars and other vehicles goes into making stormwater pollution worse and worse. Every driveway contributes to the amount of filth that is washed out during a storm. Also a lot of people will throw out their mop water to their plants or weeds that are in their garden. Most of this water will have harmful chemicals that the plants will not take up so when there is a storm is is washed out as well. However some of the chemicals do end up killing some of the plants that grow there or that could potentially grow there. Even if this does not happen immediately it will often times stay in the soil for a long time and decompose to other harmful material that might make that part of the soil incapable of sustaining plant life. So although the effects might to be immediate you might have some very important long terms effects that can harm other people is very meaningful ways.
