In Australia, there is a division of a large American car company that builds cars intended for Australians. These cars are totally awesome, and in fact one of them was brought here to the US about seven years ago as the new GTO. It was right when gas process started going crazy, so a heavy two door with an eight cylinder only was not a huge seller in this country. It was bad timing, because I thought it was a pretty amazing car. The idea was tried again with the G8, they rebadged the holden commodore and sold it here with a slightly different look, a different brand label on it and of course as a left hand driver. This was probably the best car that the American division of the company had ever sold.
Sadly, they stopped making it and it is back to being the holden commodore only. I heard that another division will start making it in America soon and I cannot wait. In fact, I am holding out on buying a new car so I can wait for the day that the holden commodore comes back into our country. Lucky citizens south of the equator get to have a holden commodore in the meantime, so I am kind of jealous. I even thought about having one imported, but the costs of it are astronomical and the thing is not certified for use in this country. It was just a silly dream, but I still wish I could do it.
The holden commodore is so great because it does everything well. It has a usable trunk, a decent sized back seat and four doors. It is a family car in capacity. It is gorgeous on the outside and has a really nice interior. Best part of the holden commodore is that it has an optional four hundred horsepower eight cylinder engine and a six speed manual transmission. This family car is also a muscle car and sounds amazing under full throttle. All I can do is sit and wait for the holden commodore to be sold in the US again.
